Annette Wilkus, FASLA, RLA, LEED AP
Partner Emeritus
Annette is a registered Landscape Architect and LEED® Accredited Professional with over three decades of experience in design, construction documentation and construction management.
She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture, the University of Pennsylvania with a Master of Landscape Architecture, and holds a certificate in Construction Management from New York University. Throughout her career she has been interested in the technical aspects of Landscape Architecture, including the construction of landscapes. Annette founded SiteWorks Landscape Architecture after recognizing the need for a knowledge base that encompasses both site and landscape implementation expertise on construction sites. She has a wide knowledge base in site related issues including design (both hardscape and planting); design documentation, and implementation including detailing and sequencing of construction activities.
Launching the firm in 2005 with such well known projects as Teardrop Park North and South, the High Line Sections I and II, she has remained integrally involved in all of the firm’s projects. With a focus on bridging the communication gap between design and construction, she is continually reaching out to other Landscape Architects, teaming for constructability reviews, and offering technical assistance for innovative designs and manufactured soils.
Aspects of particular interest to Annette are soils and their importance in the landscape. Her discussion of the design phase extends from site analysis, to identifying general questions that need to be asked of the client, to what maintenance practices will be implemented. The implementation discussion includes working with the Construction Manager/General Contractor, sequencing of construction, testing time line and installation/amendment practices for the soil.
