SiteWorks designed the complete site renovation of this 3 acre housing complex on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. The project was undertaken as part of the renovation of the site’s three 26-story residential towers. The design included improvements to the site circulation layout and accessibility, pavements, drainage, lighting, furnishings and plantings. Widened interior walkways allowed improved community interaction and easy connections between the apartment buildings, local shopping and transit.

The incorporation of several new seating areas welcomed residents of all ages. Revitalized plantings provided improved seasonal aesthetics for the complex. New, custom designed fencing better established the site’s boundaries and discouraged use of the grounds by non-residents. Two new play areas were provided for children including painted games within a landscaped edge, and an in-ground spray feature for summer play. An amphitheater that once hosted community gatherings was restored to include a performance space, a water-play feature and a new bosque of flowering trees. In addition, the project included the construction of a new maintenance building with a 3,500 square foot extensive green roof, which SiteWorks designed.
